With several generous and helping hands, I recently co-hosted a baby shower for one of my dear friends. I was amazed how much the baby gear has changed since Penelopi was a baby! Just so you know, most of these tips and tricks I’m sharing can definitely be used for parties other than baby showers.
The best advice I have about throwing a large get together is teamwork. If someone offers help, take it – I love teamwork! It’s a great opportunity to learn something new, whether it is a DIY project or a new vendor. And, I enjoyably hosted 50 people in my house.
Below you will find details on the decor and some of my suggestions to use as you plan your next big gathering. PLUS, stay tuned for part II of the baby shower featuring all the snacks and drinks!
Invitations: Jessica Clark – Owner of Ink Nashville
My friend Cara did the flowers on her own. She is so brilliant when it comes to arrangements! She bought about $100 worth of flowers at Whole Foods and went to town. I would highly recommend getting flowers from your local market, it’s a great way to add a creative personal touch. She used a combination of roses, hydrangeas, and African orchids.

Dishes & Utensils: Music City Tents & Events
The final tip — if you are going to rent anything for a party, plates and utensils are by far the most affordable and well worth the money. You don’t spend all of your time cleaning up dishes…you just throw them in the crates and then they pick them up and wash them. It usually ends up being a couple hundred dollars – if you split that cost between all the hosts, it’s worth definitely it.
Stay tuned to see what treats and drinks were served at the shower! Happy Friday friends!
