Every event, special occasion or family get-together must include a libation. Hosting parties is something that runs in my blood, it’s genetic. One of my passions is to bring people together and have a great time. Whether I’m providing drinks for a group of people, or just for my husband and I in the comfort of our own home, it is all about the joyment of the moment. I have learned the more time and attention you invest in preparing a drink makes that first sip so much sweeter, as well as making serving them that much more fun. After all, everyone needs to treat themselves and feel fancy every once in awhile. Here are a few drinks inspired by my family, city, hometown and more. Happy weekend – cheers, friends!
#1 Champagne (My favorite)
We all have our favor of drinks when out or at a gathering. For me, it’s always been champagne. My absolute favorite bubbly for special celebrations is a bottle of Veuve Clicquot. It’s the perfect combo of dry and savory. I recommend purchasing the bottle insulator because it keeps the Veuve chilled for up to two hours after the bottle is poured and left out of the fridge. My friend, Inga, gifted me one… or two. Thank you, Inga! I love the Veuve Rosé, too.
Favorites & Details:
– Veuve Clicquot (Brut)
– Veuve Clicquot (Rosé)
– Charles & Charles 2013 (Rosé)
– Champagne Goblet – World Market – Champagne Saucer Glasses
– Champagne Flutes – Wedding – Waterford -“Celebration”
#2 Whiskey Over Ice (Phillip’s Favorite)
My husband Phillip has always been a whiskey guy, and Crown Royal is his go-to. This may sound like a simple drink on the rocks, but the presentation and preparation of the whiskey is something to pay close attention to. When preparing, we use a large ball of ice (as seen below) opposed to normal ice cubes because it keeps the drink from getting watered down. Also, using distilled water to freeze the ice allows you to create a clear ice ball.
#3 Whiskey Shots (Nashville Classic)
With Tennessee being the whiskey state that it is, I couldn’t help but choose the Crown Royal Rye Whiskey as the drink of choice for my home state. There might be a few old family recipes out there… I say that it’s best to shoot the Crown Royal Rye from copper shotgun shells, because… why not? It’s the country way!
– Whiskey – Crown Royal Rye
– Shot Glasses (I found these through an App I used called, Touch of Modern (ToMo). Through the app, I’ve saved a ton of money. Plus, it helps me find unique items like these shotgun shell shot glasses.
#4 Vodka Soda (My Franklin Classic)
All you need for this hometown drink is some La Croix soda and vodka. It’s the perfect light drink to have during the football season. If you’re cheering for the Franklin home football team, then stop by Sonic and pick up a cherry limeade to substitute the La Croix to give the drink that deep red.
– Vodka – Deep Eddy’s
– Soda – La Croix
– Mason Jars as the cocktail glass
#5 Vodka Martini (My Birthday Cocktail)
Since my 21st birthday, my special drink is a good old dirty martini. It’s a great way to start a birthday dinner with that salty, and then with a clean finish. My favorite vodka to use is the Deep Eddy Vodka. Be sure to stuff the olives with bleu cheese and cheers – you have yourself the best Dirty Martini around.
– Deep Eddy Vodka
– Olive Juice – add to your taste
– Olives – Green, stuffed with Bleu Cheese
