With a new year, there is great opportunity to set goals and make resolutions for yourself. I think it’s important to challenge yourself, but be careful not to set the bar too high or low. Don’t be unreasonable with yourself. I have to remind myself that there are only 24 hours in a day and tomorrow always brings a fresh start.
Get more organized –
Organize my closet and pantry. This will feel so good to accomplish and I’m a firm believer that life runs a little smoother when everything has it’s place and space. I’m pretty sure I still have clothes in my closet from college… Yikes! My main priority for my closet is to find a way to store my boots and shoes in an organized fashion. Then there is my pantry. I started out with great intentions… but now it’s craziness. This space has the potential to be amazing and has great storage and plenty of room. Here’s the issue…I need a wooden step stool. I might be a little too picky about it, but I am looking for a barn wood gray one. The stool will help me utilize the higher shelf space and better store seasonal items and kitchen appliances. I also want to have baskets or bins for my produce and figure out a better way to store our cereal, grains, and flour.
Read a book a month –
I have a new found method to read and better retain what I am taking in. I am using a new app called audiobooks.com and I LOVE it! It has several audiobooks that you can read along with and this will be such a game changer for me! I have struggled with reading my whole life because of my dyslexia. The audiobooks app and holding the physical book is my way of following the story and remembering the information being read out loud. I buy the book on my iPad and download the audio on my phone. It would be amazing if I could have the audio and the visual on one device, but for now this works great. Any recommendations on books to read??
Drink More Water –
In 2016, I really want to focus on my daily water intake for my skin and my health. I HAVE to be better about this, because I am the worst about it! There are several health studies that mention drinking water throughout the day leads to an improved mood, clearer skin, preventing cancer… and the list goes on. It can also help with weight loss and make your workout more beneficial to your body.
Finish what I started –
Sometimes, I can get a little enthusiastic about a project. I will start something, get a little distracted and start something else, get distracted again, and then end up with several different things that I haven’t finished. I want to make it a goal this year to finish those crafts and DIY projects. I think it’s important to finish projects and it’s always a great feeling to do so. After I finish the ones I have started, I want to continue this habit!
What are your goals for 2016??
