Hello, Friday! It’s been a busy week in the Sweet household, so I had to take my Fry-day on the road. We do have cookouts on the road, but usually Kimberly is the head chef! She inspired me to accept this roadside challenge. That said, I was fully aware that I needed to pick an easy recipe, which is why I decided to fry up some bananas!
-Bananas– make sure they are ripe but not mushy!
-Small Frying Pan
1. Slice bananas about half an inch thick.
2. Heat enough oil to barely cover the bananas.
3. When your oil is nice and hot, fry bananas and flip them once.
4. Drain bananas on a plate covered with a paper towel.
5. Sprinkle powdered sugar and serve!
Pro Tip: Make sure your bananas are not too ripe, or they will be a mushy mess!
While I was frying these bad boys up on the bus, I had a couple of taste testers. Steve Schlapman, (aka Schlappy,) and Kristy Mondelli, (aka Cazzuto), offered their own great additions to my simple recipe. I thought it was only fair to share! Schlappy recommends to fry bananas the “Elvis Way”. You will need two pieces of Wonder Bread with peanut butter spread on one side. He said to place the fried bananas on top of the peanut butter, and top the sandwich with the other slice of bread. Cazzuto’s way is similar, but with thick, toasted Italian bread. Let me know which one you enjoyed!
